Roelou Slabbert

Since 1998, Roelou Slabbert has been involved in property development in South Africa and Africa. Over a period of 13 years, Roelou was Legal Adviser, and later a Business Development Executive, for Shoprite Checkers Properties Ltd. This allowed him to be a dealmaker on a number of real estate developments in more than 12 African countries.

Roelou’s years of experience in African real estate have included prominent milestones such as being an instrumental figure in the development of Belas Shopping, the first shopping centre in Angola. He was also co-author of the Master Agreement for the co-development of the Belas Shopping Centre and went on to found Roelou Slabbert Properties (Pty) Ltd in 2005, a business that completed numerous successful projects. In 1998, Roelou was admitted to the High Court of South Africa as attorney and notary public.

  • Shoprite Shopping Centre in Lilongwe, Malawi, 6 500m2, which was completed in 2001
  • Shoprite Distribution Centre in Centurion, South Africa, 70 000m2, which was completed in 2001
